National campaign provides hospice, palliative care and advanced illness care providers with resources to help patients and families understand what high-quality care looks like
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) today announced “Care You Can Trust” as the national theme for Hospice and Palliative Care Month 2026, observed throughout November.
This year’s campaign will focus on helping patients, families and communities better understand what high-quality hospice and palliative care looks like — and recognizing the dedicated professionals and organizations providing that care every day.
At a time when stories of fraud and abuse within the hospice sector have received significant national attention, NPHI believes it is of paramount importance for the public to hear the stories of providers who are delivering care the right way: delivering compassionate, high-quality care, supporting families during some of life’s most difficult moments and serving as trusted and respected partners in their communities.
“We know that hospice and palliative care are among the most trusted healthcare services in the country, and that trust has been earned over decades by dedicated professionals who show up for patients and families when they need them most,” said Tom Koutsoumpas, Founder and CEO of NPHI. “This November, we want to celebrate that trust, protect it and help more Americans understand what high-quality hospice and palliative care should look like. Patients and families deserve care they can trust, and they deserve to know what to look for when choosing a provider.”
A National Campaign for Hospice and Palliative Care
To support the campaign, NPHI has launched a comprehensive 2026 Hospice and Palliative Care Month Campaign Hub, with ready-to-use resources for hospice, palliative care and other advanced illness care providers across the country.
The campaign is designed to make participation easy for organizations of every size and capacity. Providers can use the resources throughout November to educate their communities, recognize their teams, engage local partners and share the impact of hospice and palliative care.
The Campaign Hub includes:
- Ready-to-use social media content and graphics
- Messaging toolkit (for NPHI members)
- Sample letters and press releases
- Resources to help educate patients, families and communities
- Ideas for engaging staff, community partners and local leaders
- Downloadable materials organizations can customize and share
- Tools to help providers tell their own stories of trusted, high-quality care
“There are thousands of hospice and palliative care professionals across this country doing extraordinary work that most people never see,” said Carole Fisher, President of NPHI. “They show up in living rooms, hospitals, nursing homes and communities every day to help people live with comfort, dignity and support. ‘Care You Can Trust’ is about making sure those stories are heard — and reminding families that they deserve care they can have confidence in.”
Helping Families Know What Quality Care Looks Like
Throughout November, the campaign will also encourage greater public understanding of hospice and palliative care, including when these services may be appropriate, the support available to patients and caregivers, and what patients and families should expect from their provider.
NPHI is inviting all hospice, palliative care and advanced illness care organizations — NPHI members and non-members alike — to participate and help amplify the campaign in their own communities.
