WASHINGTON, D.C. — As National Hospice and Palliative Care Month gets underway, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) is calling attention to the essential role hospice and palliative care play in America’s healthcare system and the importance of ensuring every patient and family has access to care they can trust. Under this year’s national theme, “Care You Can Trust,” NPHI is highlighting the providers who deliver compassionate, high-quality care and encouraging greater public awareness of what patients and families should expect when facing serious illness.
Observed throughout November, Hospice and Palliative Care Month is an opportunity to educate Americans about services that help people manage pain and symptoms, navigate difficult healthcare decisions and receive care that reflects their individual needs and wishes. It is also a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who support patients and their loved ones through some of life’s most challenging moments, often in the comfort of their own homes.
“Hospice and palliative care are among the most respected and trusted services in our healthcare system, and that reputation has been earned over decades by professionals who put patients and families first,” said Tom Koutsoumpas, Founder and CEO of NPHI. “This November, we are celebrating the extraordinary work happening in communities across America while reaffirming our commitment to protecting the integrity of these services. Every patient and family deserves high-quality care they can trust.”
Throughout November, hospice, palliative care and advanced illness care providers participating in the “Care You Can Trust” campaign will highlight the impact of their services, celebrate the dedicated professionals who provide care, and help patients and families better understand what these services provide.
“Every day, hospice and palliative care professionals make an extraordinary difference in the lives of patients and families, often during some of their most difficult moments,” said Carole Fisher, President of NPHI. “Their dedication to providing compassionate, high-quality care deserves to be recognized and celebrated. This November, I hope we can shine a national spotlight on the remarkable work happening in communities across America and remind every family that they deserve care that respects their wishes and puts them first.”
NPHI is encouraging hospice, palliative care and advanced illness care providers nationwide to embrace the “Care You Can Trust” theme and share the stories of their teams, patients and communities throughout November.
To support this effort, NPHI has made its 2026 Hospice and Palliative Care Month Campaign Hub available to all providers, including non-members. The hub includes social media graphics, messaging, educational materials and other ready-to-use resources.
