Matt is a communications professional skilled in messaging, storytelling, and brand development. As Communications Director at NPHI, he leads efforts to position our organization as the leading voice for nonprofit hospice and advanced illness care. His role involves managing communication strategies, public relations, brand and messaging to engage members, the media, and other key stakeholders.
Before joining NPHI, Matt worked on policy communications for AARP’s Chief Public Policy Officer, where he gained experience in policy and research. His background also includes roles in both the private and nonprofit sectors, specializing in communications and research.
Matt’s passion for community engagement includes eight years leading disability programs for Best Buddies Utah, where he also served as the Advisory Board Chair during the covid-19 pandemic. He has contributed to Special Olympics programs and the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah.
Matt grew up in England and has lived in Europe, New York, Utah, Virginia, and Washington D.C. He holds a B.S. in Geography – Geospatial Intelligence from Brigham Young University and an M.A. in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Public Affairs at Syracuse University. In his free time, Matt enjoys skiing, hiking, swimming, and exploring the outdoors.
