Karen Rubel

Karen Rubel is a visionary leader dedicated to advancing the quality of life for patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. As president and CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice, she has shaped the organization into a national model for compassionate, patient-centered care, expanding access to critical end-of-life services and elevating industry standards. Since joining the hospice in 2007 and assuming the CEO role in 2019, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership in operations, administration, major gift fundraising, and strategic planning. 

Under Ms. Rubel’s leadership, Nathan Adelson Hospice has strengthened its impact through innovative programs that enhance the patient and family experience. She has been instrumental in forging high-level partnerships with major donors and healthcare entities, improving hospice operations, and expanding community outreach. Her influence has touched thousands of lives in Southern Nevada, providing comfort and dignity during life’s most vulnerable moments. 

Ms. Rubel holds a B.A. in English from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. in Administration from Dominican University in Illinois. She is also a graduate of the Thayer Institute, where she earned a master’s degree in Leadership Arts and Sciences. 

Her professional and community contributions are extensive. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Partnership for Hospice Innovation (NPHI), Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, Nevada Donor Network, and Vegas PBS. Her leadership and impact have earned her numerous accolades, including the 2024 Executive of the Year Award from the Las Vegas Chamber, the 2024 Nurse’s Choice in Administration from The Arc Nevada Excellence in Nursing, and the Community Achievement Award from the Vegas Asian American Group. She was also named Hospice Partner of the Year by the Nevada Donor Network. Previous recognitions include being honored as a 2023 Healthcare Hero, one of Nevada Business Magazine’s 2022 Women to Watch, a Top 100 Woman by My Vegas Magazine, and a 2015 Woman to Watch by Vegas Inc. In 2012, she was recognized as one of 10 Women Who Mean Business by the Las Vegas Business Press. Additionally, she is a 2018 Jameson Fellow and a 2011 Leadership Las Vegas graduate. 

With nearly two decades in healthcare leadership, Ms. Rubel remains a relentless advocate for dignity, comfort, and respect in end-of-life care. She actively collaborates with policymakers and industry leaders to drive meaningful improvements in hospice accessibility, affordability, and quality—ensuring that every patient receives the compassionate care they deserve.
