Washington D.C. [July 18, 2025] — Representatives. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) and Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) just introduced the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA): bipartisan legislation to strengthen the palliative care and hospice workforce through new investments in training, education, and research. NPHI is proud to support this legislation and its potential to expand access to high-quality care for patients and families facing serious illness.
NPHI President Carole Fisher noted: “Nonprofit, mission-driven hospice and serious illness providers are straining under the weight of chronic underinvestment in the workforce needed to care for our aging population.” She continued, “To address these deficiencies, NPHI is proud to support the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act, which represents a meaningful step toward strengthening the end-of-life care workforce and expanding public awareness of the services available to patients and families facing serious illness.”
NPHI applauds this critical step and will continue working with Congress, the Administration, and partners across the country to support compassionate, person-centered care.
