NPHI Provides COVID-19 Update to Member CEO’s (1.28.21)
Today, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) hosted Capital Caring Health and NPHI’s very own Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. Cameron Muir to lead a discussion updating member CEO’s on the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated vaccines. The meeting aimed to provide CEO’s with evidence-based, data-driven information to help them “see the music through the noise.” The presentation focused on providing an outlook of the current situation, comparing that with past projections, and offering the most up-to-date guidance on vaccine authorization and distribution efforts.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across the country, it remains vitally important to provide consistent, timely, and pertinent information to our member program’s CEO’s to equip them to make the best possible decisions in the face of immense challenges.” Said Tom Koutsoumpas, CEO of NPHI. “At NPHI and we are fortunate to have clinical leaders, such as Dr. Muir, on hand to provide this information and offer counsel to our member programs as they push through what is hopefully the final cresting wave of this pandemic. Nonetheless, we remain committed to supporting our members in their efforts and applaud their work to continue providing the highest quality of care to patients and their families despite these ever-changing and uncertain circumstances.”
The conversation, entitled “NPHI Member CEO COVID-19 Update”, was part of a biweekly series of NPHI-hosted discussions to address today’s pressing hospice topics through engagement with health policy experts, thought leaders, and other industry innovators.
The discussion was meant to present and educate NPHI member CEO’s on the latest vaccine rollout and distribution efforts, the continued development of additional vaccines, and the increased threat of new strains of the virus -specifically focused on their transmission patterns and other unique identifiers. Additionally, Dr. Muir provided the CEO’s with NPHI recommendations on handling vaccine hesitancy, workforce shortage and staffing issues, and managing mental and behavior health concerns of front-line providers.
