NPHI Hosts Discussion Focused on Supporting Members Through the COVID-19 Vaccination Process (1.21.21)
Today, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) hosted Teleios Collaborative Network’s (TCN) Chief Medical Officer of Palliative Care, Dr. John Morris, to lead a discussion on the COVID-19 vaccination process for providers and how members can best support their programs throughout this process. The meeting aimed to provide member programs with information regarding the differences between the two authorized vaccines, the latest clinical safety data, and knowledge to separate fact from fiction when encountering vaccine hesitancy. Members also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss leadership challenges with Janelle McCallum, Chief Clinical Operations Officer of TCN, and Millicent Burke-Sinclair, President & CEO of Four Seasons, the Care You Trust, as program leaders work through the best practices and approaches to supporting staff.
“NPHI’s number one priority continues to be managing and responding to the needs of our member programs as they deal with the implications of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related vaccination challenges.” Said Tom Koutsoumpas, CEO of NPHI “We are thrilled to welcome industry experts from TCH to help put our programs at ease by providing them with the information and data they need to make sound, appropriate decisions for their programs and staff.” Said Tom Koutsoumpas, CEO of NPHI.”
The conversation, entitled “NPHI Member Engagement Call: COVID-19 and the Vaccination Process”, was part of a biweekly series of NPHI-hosted discussions to address today’s pressing hospice topics through engagement with health policy experts, thought leaders, and other industry innovators.
The discussion was meant to present and educate NPHI’s membership on the types of vaccines already authorized and those still under development, the differences between them, and the ongoing effort to ensure a safe and equitable distribution of said vaccines. Additionally, TCN presented thoughtful approaches and strategies for program-level leadership to consider regarding framing vaccine conversations and how to answer questions on the safety, efficacy, and importance of being vaccinated.
