Job Description: Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County is seeking a full-time Hospice & Palliative Care Physician to provide compassionate care to patients with advanced life-limiting illnesses in Iredell County and surrounding areas. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated, interdisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional end-of-life care in both inpatient and home settings.

Key Responsibilities:
– Provide expert medical care for hospice & palliative care patients, including pain and symptom management at end of life.
– Determine hospice eligibility and participate in the admission process.
– Split time between our inpatient units and homecare teams.
– Educate and counsel patients and families regarding disease progression, prognosis, and advanced care planning.
– Complete Advanced Care Directives and other required documentation.
– Serve as an educational resource within the organization and to the broader community.
– Participate in on-call coverage as outlined in the employment agreement.

Required Education and Experience:
– Doctoral degree in medicine (MD or DO) with an active, unrestricted North Carolina medical license.
– Board certification in a medical specialty required; strong preference for board certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine.
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the care of terminally ill patients, geriatric care, or Hospice & Palliative Care Medicine strongly preferred.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Well-organized, self-directed, and comfortable providing end-of-life care in a variety of settings.
– Computer proficiency required.
